Saudi Arabia is taking significant steps to secure better working conditions for foreign workers with the launch of a new digital platform aimed at protecting wage rights. The platform is part of the country's Vision 2030 initiative, aiming to enhance labor standards and safeguard workers' rights while addressing illegal immigration.
A Step Towards Vision 2030
On a mission to meet the goals of Vision 2030, the Human Resources and Social Development Ministry recently unveiled a set of digitally enforceable measures in Riyadh. The initiative targets the working conditions of expatriate workers, including those from India, with a focus on protecting rights and improving employment transparency.
Introducing the Musaned Platform
The cornerstone of this digital transformation is a new platform named Musaned, designed for easy accessibility and integration with existing labor frameworks. The Musaned platform is set to benefit workers from various countries, including at least 10 African nations like Sudan, Ethiopia, Uganda, Egypt, and Kenya. Additionally, workers from Asian countries such as India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Vietnam, the Philippines, and Sri Lanka will also benefit.
Key Features of the Musaned Platform
- Digital Labor Contract Access: Foreign workers in the domestic (household) sector can check and review their employment contracts through the Musaned platform.
- Updates and Tracking: Employees can follow updates related to their work conditions and labor rights via a dedicated Musaned labor app.
- Integrated Benefits: The platform supports features such as contract insurance and health benefits to further ensure worker welfare.
Fostering a Stable Working Environment
Saudi officials have stated that the Musaned platform will be a significant move toward safeguarding human rights in the workplace. The initiative aims to establish a stable working environment by providing digital transparency for both employees and employers.
The launch aligns with the Riyadh Season 2024 festival of tolerance and culture, reflecting Saudi Arabia's broader commitment to creating inclusive, fair labor conditions.
